Several years ago at a local car show I commented to the owner of a VW Beetle that I liked the cup holder sticking out of his dash. He said he made it himself and had sold a few. We chatted for a few minutes and then moved on. Hours later at the end of the day I walked back to my own Beetle and found a new cup holder sitting on the seat. I looked around to thank the gentleman, but he had already left the show.
After using that cup holder to hold my morning coffee while commuting to work, cups from the local snowball stand and milkshakes after cruise-ins I had to share the practical design with you.
I have revised the design to accommodate larger cups and have rounded corners, but kept the simplicity and practicality. Store it under the seat until you need it and then pop out the ashtray and slide in the cup holder. The cup holder securely and conveniently holds drinks or cell phones yet easily slides in and out, allowing you to keep your dash clean and uncluttered.
